Growing up in the mountains of Lake Arrowhead, CA, I was always interested in art and nature and looked for any opportunity to combine the two! The lure of the east coast took me to Emerson College in Boston but upon graduation I returned to sunny Southern California as fast as I could.
It was in Hermosa Beach that I was ultimately enchanted by the children’s paintings drying outside the Art Zone Children’s Studio. After meeting the owner, Laura Krug, it was clear we shared a philosophy about art and kids and Laura hired me on the spot to join the team as a founding teacher.
That charmed encounter led to over five years of illuminating work with children and with incredibly compassionate and creative colleagues. I got to participate in every aspect of teaching and studio management and also got to witness the beauty of empathy-based nonviolent communication (NVC) which inspired me to complete my NVC training through the ECHO Center in Echo Park.
Though life took me in a few other directions, I continued teaching art classes and leading art events at every opportunity. In 2018, I made it official and founded Corner of the Sky. I feel so lucky to work with inspiring teachers as we take our show on the road, bringing art classes and events to life!
